Science

Science Statement of Intent

At Warren Hills Primary School, Science is valued because of its relevance, impact and importance in multiple aspects of children’s present and future lives.   It is essential that children are able to understand scientific issues, interpret scientific data and apply scientific learning for personal wellbeing, academic opportunities and career aspirations.  Science is taught by engaging the children’s natural curiosity about the world around them before growing and expanding their interests through more knowledge based and theoretical directions using the many aspects of Scientific Enquiry including reading and researching.  Science teaching at Warren Hills School nurtures children’s curiosity and encourages pupils to scientifically test their ideas and preconceptions through experimentation and applied methodology to establish facts and answer questions.  There are strong connections between Science and other curriculum areas, particularly the PSHE curriculum as well as English and Maths.
