Mathematics Statement of Intent
At Warren Hills, we believe Mathematics is an important and creative subject that helps us to understand the world. We aspire for all children to develop an enjoyment and a sense of curiosity about the subject. We promote a ‘can do’ attitude and believe that all children can achieve in mathematics. The majority of children will be taught the content from their year group with timely interventions to fill gaps from previous year groups where necessary. We aim for children to gain a secure and deep understanding of mathematical concepts through manageable steps, using mistakes and misconceptions as an essential part of learning and we provide challenge through rich and sophisticated problems.
At Warren Hills, we follow the National Curriculum Programme of Study for Mathematics, using the White Rose Maths Scheme to support this. See below for what your child will be covering and when.
